KB08111702 Preparing a BlackBerry Device
Remove the 'CICAL' service
Background CICAL is a service which is used to sync the calendar to Outlook and BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server). When the Service Book is activated, it becomes a parallel "Calendar" which is displayed where the normal calendar was before. When you add events to your calendar, they are actually added to the CICAL service book, not your regular calendar. The Funambol Plug-in only syncs with the regular calendar. As a result, once CICAL is activated, Funambol and the UI diverge.
You get CICAL into your Service Book list by signing up for it with your service provider. This may be a manual choice, or your service provider may install it by default. It may also be installed but dormant until a Restore or Partial Restore.
Procedure In your BlackBerry Device:
1) Go to "Options" 2) Go to "Advanced Options" 3) Go to "Service Books" 4) There are a number of entries labelled with an e-mail address (e.g. "user.name@..."). View each of them and identify one with a "CID" of "CICAL" 5) Return to the "Service Book" list, select the item identified in (4) and use Menu to Delete it 6) Power off the Blackberry (full "off", not sleep) 7) Power it back on, and confirm by adding a new event and then syncing it.
These steps must be repeated after every Full Restore or after any Partial Restore that includes "Service Books". |
