File System Storage
Mailtraq's main archiving system compresses messages and stores them in a database for efficient disk usage. An alternative is to use Uncompressed File System storage.
This places a copy of the message as a text file in Message Format directly onto the hard drive in a location of your choice, outside of the Mailtraq database and file structure.
These messages can then be managed by external programs of your choice. The messages are no longer searchable within Mailtraq, but can be scanned by any large text editor, such as GREP?.
It is also possible to combine methods, so both conventional Archiving and Uncompressed storage are used.
In both the following cases a secondary mailbox is created.
Set the Secondary mailbox as an alias to the primary mailbox being archived. When mail arrives in the Primary mailbox a copy will also be delivered to the secondary mailbox.
In the secondary mailbox select the Gateway-tab and set it to the destination to place message files in.
Set the Archive-tab of the Primary mailbox as follows. Messages will then be archived to disk at the end of the configured period.
Forward when Archiving to...
Check this option and have the message sent to the secondary mailbox created above. A copy will also be Archived in the conventional way unless the following control is also enabled.
Delete Messages instead of Archiving them
If this option is checked then messages will be deleted rather than being archived and will not appear in the System Archive.
