KB10060801 Delegating user management (Web-based User Manager)

This utility was created to allow a Mailtraq administrator to delegate the creation, deletion and password changes of accounts to another User, for example - Human Resources.

Method

Download this file: usermanager.zip

Shut Mailtraq down.

Place a copy of the extracted usermanager.asp into the WebMail folder.

The default location is - C:\Program Files\Mailtraq\WebMail

Restart Mailtraq.

Browse to the utility on that machine, for example:
http://127.0.0.1/usermanager.asp  or  http://webmail.example.com/usermanager.asp 

Log on as a User with Web Administrator privileges: www.mailtraq.com/user

Usage

When you create a User you should select a suitable User as a template, and you must select a mailbox template, otherwise it will create a User, but no matching mailbox.

A template in this context means that the newly created user/mailbox will 'clone' the privileges and settings of the user/mailbox chosen as a template. It is a common practice to create a dedicated user/mailbox for this purpose so that individual modifications are not inadvertantly copied out to newly created users.

It is recommended that a strong backup regime is in place when delegating the deletion of users.
