KB03141001 Creating a simple Mail-group or Distribution list
For an easy solution that does not involve the Console - read about Distribution Lists here
Problem: You want to have an easy way to send emails to the same group of people - say, 'friends', without having to create and manage a special 'mailing list'.
Solution: What you need is an entry in Mailtraq's aliases file so that when you send a message to 'friends' a copy is sent to those 20 different email addresses.
Create a text file named \database\configuration\aliases, note that there's no extension, and add the following lines to it ...
# friends distribution list friends: :friends.txt
... then, in the same directory, create a text file named friends.txt containing all of the required addresses, one per line, like this ...
user@example.com foo@example.net
Mailtraq will then do the expansion automatically for you. If your mail client won't let you send a message to 'friends' without a domain, use the domain which you've configured in Mailtraq (Console | Options | Server | Server tab). |
