Normally training will be carried out using the Webmail interface, however there may be circumstances when you want to use the Mailtraq Console instead:
- Open the Mailtraq Console.
- Expand the tree until you can view the messages in a mailbox.
- Right-click on a message
- If the message is spam, click "Learn to Reject"
- If the message is wanted, click "Learn to Accept"
- if a mistake is made in learning to accept or reject an email, you can do a "reverse learn" on that email.
Whilst there is no obvious visual feedback to show that the system has learnt about the message, it will take this message into account when future messages arrive.
More information
If the "Learn to Accept" and "Learn to Reject" options are not available, this means anti-spam has not yet been activated on this mailbox. See this tutorial for instructions on activating anti-spam.
Once a message has been learnt, it does not need to remain in the console; the system extracts all the information about the message that it needs and stores it elsewhere. If this is a mailbox setup specially for spam-training, you can delete the messages, or set them to expire after a period.
