KB04102901 Windows Firewall
The Windows Firewall can prevent Mailtraq from accessing the Internet to send and receive email, and for other services.
You will need to allow Mailtraq to access the Internet by making an 'Exception'.
The firewall settings are found in the Windows Control Panel in the Windows Firewall section.
All Windows Firewall settings are managed in a similar manner. Below are examples for Windows XP and Windows Server 2008.
Windows Firewall Installation Problem
The Windows Firewall must be enabled during Installation - even if you do not use the Windows Firewall.
If the Windows Firewall is not enabled you will see an error similar to:
Windows Firewall Error
While running the installer you see:
"Error 25580 cannot connect to Windows Firewall."
The error implies that the Windows Firewall is not installed or has been stopped.
Why does this happen?
Windows security now requires that the MSI installation package enters a profile in the Windows Firewall to allow Mailtraq to host services.
What do I do?
Use the Windows Service Control Panel to start it before installing so that it can be correctly configured.
You can turn off the Windows Firewall after installation, if you do not wish to use it.
The Console requires access via Port 7889 and you may have to adjust your router/firewall permissions.
