Gateway

The Gateway tab appears on the Mailbox Properties dialog and provides the option to transfer incoming messages to disk storage. If any of the following options are enabled, Mailtraq no longer controls the messages and they cannot be retrieved from Mailtraq by mail clients using the normal POP3 protocol. This facility, gatewaying Mailtraq messages to disk, has a direct counterpart in the Gateway Service which enables Mailtraq to gateway messages (that is, the output messages of KA9Q type mail clients) from disk into Mailtraq.

Gateway to KA9Q and Text Files
If this option is enabled, Mailtraq provides support for KA9Q mail clients by placing messages in a text file which is external to Mailtraq's message database. There are three options and the choice of which to use depends on the type of KA9Q or Pegasus mail client in use.

KA9Q Route Mode
If the KA9Q Route Mode option is enabled messages are appended to the user's mailbox file (which can also be read by mail clients such as Pine and PC Elm). The mailbox file is placed in a specific text file in the mail subfolder. The text file is named using the mailbox name defined in the Mailbox Name field of the POP3 Mailbox tab with a .TXT file extension.

KA9Q Queue Mode
If this option is enabled messages are placed in the mqueue subfolder of the KA9Q directory structure. It is then the responsibility of the mail client being used to move them to the appropriate place for the user. Please refer to the mail client documentation for further details on using KA9Q.

Pegasus Gateway
This option is similar to the KA9Q Queue mode, except that Mailtraq outputs the files using the Pegasus Gateway format and file naming conventions.

Gateway Directory and Real Path
This shows the actual directory in to which Mailtraq will place the files – which information may be useful for configuring gateway clients. 

Separate Attachments Format
Mailtraq will 'export' messages to disk in the location selected, and create a separate folder structure on disk to match the MIME structure of each message.
