Using folders & filters - EWA

Folders

Mailtraq provides a easy to use interface for creating Folders into which you can sort your email.

Folders are created simply by Right-clicking in the Tree-vew and selecting New | [Mail Folder].

You will be prompted for a name for the new Folder. You can later rename a folder by Right-clicking and selecting [Rename], and you will be prompted for a new name.

Folders can be nested - with one folder being a folder of another

Folders will sort alphabetically next time Mailtraq is restarted.

Folders created in webmail are also reflected in your regular IMAP account, and may also be accessed by the Administrator from the Folders tab of the User Mailbox Properties dialog.

Messages are moved into a folder by selecting the email in 'Preview' then, right-click, Move ... and  select the destination folder from the list shown in the pop-up window. Multiple selections may be made. You may also Copy ... messages to folders.

Filters

Mailtraq will sort incoming messages into folders for you by using Filters.

The Filters setting is accessed from the 'Tools | Filters' menu.

Message Filters are used to automatically move incoming mail into the appropriate folders. Filters are applied in order, and only the first filter that matches is used.

Filters are created by clicking the [New Filter] button in the Filters page. The order of the filter can be changed by using the [Move up] and [Move Down] buttons.

Selected Filters may also be run on specified Folders to greatly simplify moving mutiple messages from folder to folder.

There is more detailed information on EWA filters here.

Configuration Tip

Administrators should guard against allowing excessive build up of junk or deleted mail in Users mailboxes. Effective spam filtering can divert many thousands of messages to Junk - and this build up of messages can slow the overall performance of the mailserver - particularly the responsiveness of webmail.

Use Mail Group Maintenance to automatically purge aged items - read more here

Mailbox Usage

Mailbox Usage viewing can be enabled by the user in
Options | Mail Settings and will display the size of the Mail Folders and/or the number of messages in the folder tree.

The example shows (6222) unread messages from a total number of [6322] taking up 423MB on disk.
