KB07071301 Registry KeysAdding Settings To add and change registry settings see article: KB06070501 Modifying the Mailtraq Registry entry
Warning: adding, removing or editing registry settings can damage Windows beyond repair and should be attempted only by those with the appropriate skills and the necessary repair tools should anything go wrong. However, Mailtraq makes minimal use of the registry and can be moved from machine to machine readily without modifying any registry settings. The following registry keys are correct for Windows98 and will be subject to change for Mailtraq running on other win32 operating systems. RegistryMailtraq's usage of the registry falls into two categories: fixed settings, which are created by Mailtraq by default and which are replaced automatically at startup if found to be missing, and custom settings. Fixed SettingsMailtraq's primary registry settings consist of the following:-
32-bit machines HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Fastraq\Mailtraq 64-bit machines HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Fastraq\Mailtraq (Note "Wow6432Node") | | | | FrontWindow | SZ | Identifies the currently displayed window | Status | DWORD | Mailtraq's current installation status | ProgramPath | SZ | The path to mailtraq.exe (set by Mailtraq during startup) | AutoUpdate | SZ | The URL and file for Software Updates | HideTrayIcon | DWORD | Toggles display of the Mailtraq icon in the Windows system tray | MinimumDiskspace | DWORD | Sets the free disk space minimum at which Mailtraq refuses inbound mail | LocalDateFormat | SZ | The date format used by Mailtraq | LocalTimeFormat | SZ | The time format used by Mailtraq |
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Fastraq\Mailtraq\Console] Volatile settings for the display position and size of the Console and the column order and widths of list view of the console for each class of object in the tree view. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Mailtraq] Various settings which control Mailtraq's uninstall properties Custom Settings None of the following registry settings are required for the correct operation of Mailtraq. Mailtraq does not check custom additions to the registry for errors or for suitability therefore appropriate care must be taken by the administrator. You should manually create custom destination folders/directories before changing the Registry settings. DatabasePathThe default installation location for the Mailtraq database is immediately below the directory identified by the ProgramPath registry setting. An alternative location can be specified by adding a DatabasePath registry entry to the following key:- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Fastraq\Mailtraq] DatabasePath=drive:\path\ for which the data might be, for example, E:\Program Files\Mailtraq\ to force the database to be created and stored as E:\Program Files\Mailtraq\database when Mailtraq is restarted. Note that the trailing backslash in the string is a required element. Tip Use the format of the ProgramPath entry as a guide. ArchivePathSimilarly an alternative location can be specified for Mailbox Archives by adding a ArchivePath registry entry to the following key:- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Fastraq\Mailtraq] ArchivePath=drive:\path\ CachePathThe default installation location for the web cache is immediately below the database, i.e. \database\cache. An alternative location can be specified by adding a CachePath entry to the following registry key:- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Fastraq\Mailtraq] CachePath=drive:\path\ for which the data might be, for example, d:\data\ to force the web cache to be created and stored as d:\data\cache when Mailtraq is restarted. Note that the trailing backslash in the registry string is a required element. Tip - use the format of the ProgramPath entry as a guide. AuthoriseNTDomainTo force Mailtraq to authenticate against a specific domain, the following may be added to the registry:- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Fastraq\Mailtraq] AuthoriseNTDomain=DOMAIN Note: this setting is only operative for multi-user operating systems. |
