POP3 Accounts - Leave mail on server
Pay attention to the setting 'Leave a copy of messages on the server'.
This will leave a copy of messages on the server after they are collected by Outlook's POP3 client.
However, this option only sets a preference to leave a copy and should not be relied on to provide a permanent copy.
Whenever possible we recommend using IMAP if you wish to retain a copy of messages on the server.
