Administration Tab
This tab appears in the Server Properties dialog and is used to configure access to the console, and to synchronize Mailtraq with a remote time server.
Password
If the option to use a password is checked and a password is entered then the password must be supplied in order to open the console.
Careful note should be made of the password as it is not possible to recover a lost password from the Mailtraq console.
Synchronize the system clock....
A remote time server can be used to correct the system clock of the machine on which Mailtraq is running. Note that while this is usually accurate to within a second, the accuracy can vary up to a couple of seconds depending on the accuracy of the network latency calculations made by Mailtraq which are sensitive to traffic variations. Any server which provides the TIME protocol on port 37 via TCP may be specified. Enabling this option places a Synchronize Clock entry in the Tools Menu in the console.
Use the Local Network option if the time server can be contacted without dialling externally. The time is not corrected more than once per day using this option.
Note
Mailtraq applies a sanity check to the time and date information returned by the remote time server. If the system clock of the machine on which Mailtraq is running differs by more than ninety minutes (to allow for seasonal time zone changes, for example Standard/Summer), then the system time is not updated and an advisory message is generated to Postmaster.
It is important that all machines that are connecting to Mailtraq run synchronized to UTC (or an offset) otherwise unexpected issues can arise in collecting or routing messages.
Administrator's Email The full local email address of the actual individual responsible for managing and maintaining Mailtraq should be entered here. Warnings and notifications generated by the system are sent to this address. An external address may be entered.
